Frequently asked questions (totally OK to have some)

Why should you work with me?

I'm a certified health coach having qualified in 2016 from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition which means I've been exposed to over 200 dietary theories. I'm also a Massage Training Institute (MTI) massage therapist so I understand how stress and wellbeing impacts your physical and psychological health. I've also taken several courses in mindfulness which has helped transform my relationship with anxiety and has complimented my specialist interest in intuitive eating. I've also been on a huge personal journey with my body and food which you can read here. I understand for real the struggle with body confidence, feeling comfortable around food and getting off diets. I will be your no.1 cheerleader and be with you every step of the way.

However, if you're looking for a quick fix, a new way to lose weight or if you've been diagnosed with an eating disorder then sadly this isn't the place for you. My programmes are for individuals wanting to get to the root causes of their relationship with food and their bodies and take a 360 degree look at how to be happier in their lives. While weight loss can occur especially over a longer period of working together it is never a primary goals in my work. The biggest changes will be in a happier outlook, overcoming negative patterns and having the confidence to chase your dreams.

I know exactly what the self-help shelves look like in the bookshops, I used to browse them weekly looking for 'something' I couldn't put my finger on. I also know exactly what diet clubs are like, I was a member of one for years trying to shrink my body to my 'ideal weight'. I also understand what it's like to trawl blogs, books and magazines looking for a way to 'fix my body' and be happy. In fact, I used to write a blog about happiness I was so interested in the topic. But none of those things gave me the answers. The only thing that gave me true peace of mind and body was learning intuitive eating, mindful practices and discovering how to follow my gut instinct that there must be more to life. I was right...

What does a coaching session look like?

Coaching isn't about digging into your past traumas. It's not therapy. But it's about where you are now and where you want to be in the future.

This means working on getting rid of diet mentality, food rules, body acceptance and a self-loving future. Old unhelpful stories won't stand a chance as we create actionable strategies for achieving the goals you set to move yourself towards the person you want to become.

You know yourself better than anyone the answers to your body so you'll be setting your own goals based on where you need to go.  During each session I'll ask you the right questions to unlock you own breakthroughs. Often we need an outside perspective to help us see what's really going on. I'll help you find the right yellow brick road for you. Through providing the time, space and focus, we'll turn your innate knowledge into actionable goals that can last a lifetime. Seriously, you never need to diet again.

How does it work?

Once the agreement is signed we can begin coaching straight away. We'll set up a time that's convenient for you and in the first session we'll do a deep dive into what's going on with you. I have the tools and techniques to get to the real issues important to you.

I'll work my coaching qualification plus the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to help root out the issues you feel around food and your body. The principles are:

1. Reject the Diet Mentality. 2. Honor your Hunger 3. Make Peace with Food 4. Challenge the Food Police 5. Respect your Fullness 6. Discover the Satisfaction Factor 7. Honor Your Feelings without Using Food 8. Respect your Body 9. Exercise - Feel the Difference 10. Honor your Health

We'll create actions from the very first session and you'll leave feeling empowered that the future you want is in your hands. I use Skype to work 1:1 during my programmes but for long term clients I meet face to face to celebrate their wins. The best thing about having a coach is having the accountability to work on your goals and having a personal cheerleader to help you shout about the small stuff. I'll get a huge emoji blast of joy for every small win you have.

What if I don't feel that coaching is for me once we start?

I you're not totally happy after three sessions (this is how long my kick starter programme is) then I'll give you your money back. It's that simple. All I ask is that you give it your best for the first three sessions. I am that confident that by the end of your three, if you're not feeling differently - I will refund your money.

Do you offer one session?

I used to offer just a solo session but to be honest, I don't find that this is enough time to deal with the issues about body acceptance or getting rid of diet mentality. There's no accountability after you've set your goals and so this doesn't feel good for me as a coach and you won't get the same results. However, I offer a totally free 30 min discovery call so you can get a taste of what it's like to work with a coach. And it's important to feel like we're a good fit for you to get the best results. Can I sign up for more than just the Body Hang up Shakedown?

Yes! The Body Hang up Shakedown is a 6 week kick starter. You'll start your journey into feeling good about your body and begin to unpick the negative thoughts you've had for a long time. But once you've completed this 6 week programme I offer a monthly coaching option. The cost of this monthly programme is £250 and you can roll it on for as long as you like.

Harri asked me questions I hadn’t thought of asking myself. She has facilitated a perspective shift in the way I view food, and more importantly, how I view myself. She has helped me identify some of my hidden, unconscious patterns and has helped me fall back in love with food. I could not have made these steps without her skill and encouragement.
