How to deal with negative weight & food comments at Christmas

It’s Christmas! Yay, who doesn’t love an excess amount of tinsel, fairy lights and time off work. All good things. But, among the merriment there can be a LOT of challenges for those of us on a body acceptance path.

If we’re lucky, for 99% of the rest of the year we can create our own worlds. We can detox from negative people and avoid situations which makes us feel uncomfortable but at Christmas, it’s different.

6 ways jealousy can be a good thing

We’re taught from a young age that envy is a pretty ugly emotion. And let’s be honest, no one really wants to fess up to wanting what someone else has got. But in reality, sometimes we can’t help but look at another person's life and feel a bit… I want what they’ve got. Am I right?

I’ve definitely been guilty in the past of looking at what other successful women are doing and thinking, why does she deserve to that? Or thinking, how come she gets everything so easily when I’m working so hard? Or bitching in my mind about someone else’s body, purely because I’m jealous that those thighs are not my own.

Ugh… So. Ugly.

How to feel more whole

I’ve been in the pursuit of happiness for about 6 years now, I’ve followed all sorts of different paths, done a LOT of wacky activities and read many a book on the topic. But it’s really on pretty recently that I’ve discovered that the happiest people aren’t the ones who are happy all the time, nope, they are the ones who show up most ‘whole’ in all different aspects of their lives.

Count moments not steps

I’m about to move out of London after 7 years. In the time I’ve been here I’ve made countless friends, had 5 jobs, lived in 3 flats and despite saying I’ll be single for at least a year when I first moved, met the boy I would married within the first 6 months of being here and married him (not in the same year).

Truthfully, the first two years of being a Londoner, I hated it. London was too busy, too big, too noisy, too expensive and the people are rude. Now, London is still all those things but I love it. So why am I leaving?

Why feeling lost in a good thing

This week I had a big conversation with a client who was having a crisis of feeling lost. You know that feeling right? The one where you feel like you’re treading water and going nowhere. Then wondering if you’re even travelling in the right direction. Yup one of those moments. But then it occurred to me that these moments of feeling alone or lost can actually be a good thing.

When we’re feeling lost it creates space to hear what you actually want, what your gut is telling you.
It gives us time and space to get honest and work out what it is that’s making us feel this way.  Ooph I know, getting honest with yourself is as tough as getting honest with anyone else right. But stay with me.

How to get body confident and say yes to life more

Did you know that the UK has one of the lowest body positive scores in the world? Only 20% of women like how they look? This comes from the Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report that was created using interviews with 10,500 women and girls across 13 countries.

There are so many facts that make me sad in this report but the one which stood out for me, was how low body-esteem causes the 85% of women and 79% girls to opt out of activities and life experiences because they don't feel happy about how they look.
