6 ways jealousy can be a good thing

We’re taught from a young age that envy is a pretty ugly emotion. And let’s be honest, no one really wants to fess up to wanting what someone else has got. But in reality, sometimes we can’t help but look at another person's life and feel a bit… I want what they’ve got. Am I right?

I’ve definitely been guilty in the past of looking at what other successful women are doing and thinking, why does she deserve to that? Or thinking, how come she gets everything so easily when I’m working so hard? Or bitching in my mind about someone else’s body, purely because I’m jealous that those thighs are not my own.

Ugh… So. Ugly.

How to sleep better

I luuuuurve sleep. But if I'm stressed it's the first thing to go.  I just can't turn my brain off when I turn out the light even if I feel tired and there's few things worse than 'the fear' when you realise that you're wide away but have loads to do the next day. Hate it!

The thing is, we all need sleep. Without it we would literally stop functioning but despite that, it is so often neglected and pushed down the priority list. And I get it, there's loads of awesome things to be done in the nighttime and being sucked into a Netflix series does often result in time at night being sucked away. And it's understandable that when we're at work every day we want to have fun when we can! Burning the candle at both ends is something that I'm very good at doing if I'm not careful.  For many of us, even when we’re really tired the reality is that we just don’t want to go to bed early when we get so little time at home after work to be with our house mates or partners.

And we live in an over-stimulated, hyped up world where many of us run around totally sleep deprived - literally ‘rest-less.’ We don't feel the natural call to sleep like we used to. How many of us say we're going to bed and then scroll through social media feeds for another 30 minutes? *Puts hand up*

How to be a festive badass.

OK so it’s the time to be merry and bright - but the reality is that many of us end up panicked about present buying, overindulging in food that doesn’t serve us and generally becoming shadows of our former-badass-selves. By the time January rolls around, we’re desperate for the only time of the year when it’s acceptable to tell your friend you’re ‘on a detox’.

Trust me, I know! At this halfway point in the month I was starting to feel the beginning of ‘festive frazzle’. Late nights, two impending family weekends away from home and a tree with currently no presents under it - no wonder I was starting to feel anxious!

My diet was also suffering - I’d been nibbling too many mini cheddars (a weakness), spending too much money on unhealthy bread-based breakfasts (something I try to avoid) and my afternoon tiredness meant I started to experience ‘sugar creep’.

Something had to give or else I wasn’t going to make it to the end of the month! It was time to take action.

The key to being a festive badass all the way to January is to put your needs first. Now this might sound selfish, egotistical or down right impossible but trust me. It’s the only way NOT TO LOSE YOUR GOD DAMN MIND over the silly season.
