6 ways jealousy can be a good thing

We’re taught from a young age that envy is a pretty ugly emotion. And let’s be honest, no one really wants to fess up to wanting what someone else has got. But in reality, sometimes we can’t help but look at another person's life and feel a bit… I want what they’ve got. Am I right?

I’ve definitely been guilty in the past of looking at what other successful women are doing and thinking, why does she deserve to that? Or thinking, how come she gets everything so easily when I’m working so hard? Or bitching in my mind about someone else’s body, purely because I’m jealous that those thighs are not my own.

I’ve been in the pursuit of happiness for about 6 years now, I’ve followed all sorts of different paths, done a LOT of wacky activities and read many a book on the topic. But it’s really on pretty recently that I’ve discovered that the happiest people aren’t the ones who are happy all the time, nope, they are the ones who show up most ‘whole’ in all different aspects of their lives.

Count moments not steps

This year will be a pretty big one for me. In the 12 months from January 2018 to January 2019 everything in my life (well, 99% of things) will be different. I’m about to move out of London after 7 years. In the time I’ve been here I’ve made countless friends, had 5 jobs, lived in 3 flats and despite saying I’ll be single for at least a year when I first moved, met the boy I would married within the first 6 months of being here and married him (not in the same year).

Truthfully, the first two years of being a Londoner, I hated it. London was too busy, too big, too noisy, too expensive and the people are rude. Now, London is still all those things but I love it. So why am I leaving?
