Why should you work with me?

I'm a certified health coach from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (2016) which means I've been exposed to over 200 dietary theories. I'm also a professionally trained Massage Training Institute (MTI, 2014) massage therapist,  so I understand how stress and well-being impacts your physical and psychological health.

I'm also a trained Emotional Resilience Trainer with Tough Cookie, which uses mindfulness techniques to transform people’s relationship to life’s adversities and help cope with stress and anxiety skillfully and sustainably

I've been on a huge personal journey with my body and food which you can read here. I found that the key to health and loving your body is to embrace having no 'diet' at all.

What does a coaching session look like?

Coaching isn't about digging into your past traumas. It's not therapy. But it's about where you are now and where you want to be in the future. 

This means working on getting rid of diet mentality, food rules, body acceptance and a self-loving future. Old unhelpful stories won't stand a chance as we create actionable strategies for achieving the goals you set to move yourself towards the person you want to become. 

You know yourself better than anyone the answers to your body so you'll be setting your own goals based on where you need to go.  During each session I'll ask you the right questions to unlock you own breakthroughs. Often we need an outside perspective to help us see what's really going on.

Whether you’ve worked with a coach or not, that’s totally ok! I ensure that the results my clients get are life-long changes because my work always has these two focuses:

  • It’s impact-focused, not solution-focused because there’s no point solving a problem unless it’s the problem that really is going to have a big positive change in your life.

  • And it’s question-focused, not answer-focused. This might sound strange but hear me out, I know that you already have all the answers within you to start creating your best life. You just need better questions to get to them. That’s where I come in.

I'll help you find the right yellow brick road for you. Through providing the time, space and focus, we'll turn your innate knowledge into actionable goals that can last a lifetime. Seriously, you never need to diet again to love your body. Your body already holds all the information it needs to feel well. It just needs the right questions to remember.

How does it work?

We'll set up a time that's convenient for you and in the first session we'll do a deep dive into what's going on with you.

I'll work using my coaching qualification plus the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to root out the issues you feel around food and your body. The principles are:

1. Reject the Diet Mentality. 2. Honor your Hunger 3. Make Peace with Food 4. Challenge the Food Police 5. Respect your Fullness 6. Discover the Satisfaction Factor 7. Honor Your Feelings without Using Food 8. Respect your Body 9. Exercise - Feel the Difference 10. Honor your Health

But this coaching is 360*, so we’ll also look at other areas of your life such as relationships, career, home environment.

We do this because we are not our bodies and we need to balance all areas of our life to be happy.

We'll create actions from the very first session and you'll leave feeling empowered that the future you want is in your hands. I use Skype to work 1:1 during my longer programmes, but there are some face to face meet ups to celebrate the big wins.

The best thing about having a coach, regardless of how long or short the time, is having the accountability to work on your goals and having someone to help you shout about the small stuff.  You'll get a huge emoji blast of joy for every small win. 

What type of people do I work with?

My clients are all all ages and from all walks of life. The one thing that connects them is that they’re ready to feel happy in their skin and undo the years of diet culture which tells them that they don't measure up. They're ready to stop living for a future happiness and embrace who they are, right now. The people I work with are sick of feeling like they're losing the battle. They're tired of hating what they see in the mirror, they've had enough of not feeling good enough and they're sick of negative thoughts ruining their confidence.

What if I don't feel that 4 month coaching is for me once we start?

All I ask is that you give it your best for the first three sessions. I am that confident that by the end of your three then you will want to continue, but if you're not feeling differently, however, at any point, if you're not totally happy then I will terminate your agreement. 

Do you offer one session?

Yes, but there are only a handful of single sessions each month. I also offer a totally free 40 min discovery call to those interested in signing up to one of my programmes. This gives you can get a taste of what it's like to work with a coach, and gives us both a chance to get to know each other a little bit. Single sessions are best to deal with one specific focus area e.g. a holiday coming up, they don't get to the root of deeper issues in eating and body confidence. This requires one of my longer programmes. 

Who isn't this coaching for?

If you're looking for a quick fix, a new way to lose weight or if you've been diagnosed with an eating disorder then sadly this isn't the place for you.

My programmes are for individuals wanting to get to the root causes of their relationship with food and their bodies and take a 360* look at how to be happier in their lives. While weight loss can occur over a longer period of working together it is never a primary goals in my work. The biggest changes will be increased body acceptance and self-esteem, a happier outlook, overcoming negative patterns and having the confidence to chase your dreams.
